Working from a humanistic and person-centred approach Karen gives you the opportunity to work through issues from the past and present that may be affecting your ability to live life to the full. She is experienced working with eating disorders, depression, relationships, stress, anxiety, child abuse. Karen offers sessions to individuals, couples and families. She holds a current enhanced DBS enabling her to work with vulnerable adults and children.
Art therapy is not an art lesson and you do not need any artistic experience to enjoy the benefits. You will be guided by Karen to complete home-based art activities designed to enable understanding of negative experiences and traumas to creatively express your hopes and dreams for the future. Activities are discussed during online counselling sessions. Art therapy is particularly effective who anyone who finds it difficult to verbalise feelings and emotions; attachment disorder and trauma in childhood. Engaging in art and craft activities is a 'right brain' activity which stimulates creativity, by allowing the 'left brain', the logical and analytical side, to process unresolved emotions, feelings and memories stored in the subconscious mind.
Art therapy workshops are ideal for any group wishing to experiment with art-making as a therapeutic way to improve mental and emotional wellbeing, or just to have fun creatively learning new art and craft techniques and relieve everyday stress and anxiety. Workshops are can be arranged to suit your groups needs and abilities. Duration is normally 2 hours and they can be booked as one session, a series of six, weekly or to suit. Karen also runs staff well-being art activity workshops onsite in the workplace to help staff de-stress.
Vision Boards At Home
Create your own mood or vision board using your ‘Ikigai’ – your reason for being. Using art therapy Karen will guide you to discover your Ikigai and the things you ‘get up in the morning for’ identifying hopes, dreams and goals for the future in your own personal vision board. Home parties are for age 14 and above, and can be for birthdays, hen-do’s, social get togethers, or just a group of friends who like to get creative in the comfort of their own home!
Pop-Up Art Studio
Host your own art or craft party in the comfort of your own home! Karen will bring the art materials and lots of inspiration and you provide the guests. Parties normally last 2-3 hours but can be tailored to your wishes with one or two or three activities to try. From tie-dying T-shirts and gifts, to making dream catchers, decoupage flower pots or trying some new art materials and methods, Karen will encourage and enable each guest to complete something they are proud of.
Reminiscence workshops, making memory boxes are designed for the elderly and dementia sufferers, care homes and cafes, to stimulate memories of times past. These are tailored to the participants ability and needs, and can be staff assisted or with a family member.
